The Scene: The Quinjet
The quinjet is the de-facto aerial transport vehicle of the Avengers and all S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel. It seems that the team will be getting a newly designed one, and their use in Avengers: Age of Ultron will be as prominent as ever. Never mentioned in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the inventor of the quinjet will soon make his appearance in a solo movie.
From the Pages of Comics
The quinjet was originally designed by the Wakanda Design Group, led by T’Challa / The Black Panther. Equipped with vertical take-off and landing capabilities, quinjets can also reach speeds of up to Mach 2.1. Other variations of the aerial vehicle also exist, as an elite subgroup of the Dora Milaje (bodyguards for the Black Panther), the Midnight Angels (think of them as DEVGRU / SEAL Team Six of Wakanda), has their own version called the Dagger — which was used to attack Doctor Doom at his castle.
