The Scene: Quicksilver Runs Through a Train
Quicksilver is fast, there’s no doubt about that. But how fast is he? In the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, we see him speed through a train, knocking over Captain America on the way. He also seems to initially tear through a drone from Ultron’s army. In the comics, Quicksilver has had his speed upgraded to ever-impressive stats.
From the Pages of Comics
First introduced in X-Men #4 (March 1964), Quicksilver was only able to run faster than the speed of sound, which was around 770 miles per hour. After he was captured by the High Evolutionary (a geneticist who evolved his own intelligence into god-like status), Quicksilver was given Isotope E, which allowed him to easily reach speeds of Mach 4 (3,080 miles per hour). Because he’s also been shown to travel back in time, it’s been assumed that Quicksilver can run faster than the speed of light, which is in excess of 186,000 miles per second.
