In the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, the Avengers hang out together and seem to be celebrating another victory. Whether or not it’s another epic battle win or something political, we’ll just have to see the film to find out. What’s unquestionable is that they’ve been playing a card game from the evidence seen on the coffee table. Could this be the famed Floating Super-Hero Poker Game seen in the comics?

In Marvel’s universe, the poker game is known as the Floating Super-Hero Poker Game. It first appeared in Marvel Two-in-One #51 (May 1979), and the founder of the tradition is believed to be either Ben Grimm / The Thing or one of the Avengers. Locations of the poker game have included Ben Grimm’s apartment, the Avengers Mansion, Fantastic Four Headquarters, and the Secret Avengers Headquarters. The first time the game is seen, the members playing it were Ben Grimm / The Thing, Hank McCoy / Beast, Nick Fury, District Attorney Blake Tower, Simon Williams / Wonder Man, Carol Danvers / Ms. Marvel, and Edwin Jarvis at the Avengers Mansion.
