Hydra’s weapons were mostly acquired through military raids on enemy compounds, but the villainous organization’s technology took a giant leap forward when Baron Wolfgang von Strucker encountered the Gnobians in 1944. Given a story arc in the series Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD #1 – #6 (September 1989 – December 1989), the Gnobians were a powerful benevolent race of empathic extraterrestrials.
