The Scene: Hawkeye’s New Threads
In the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, Hawkeye’s garb certainly looks a bit different from when he appeared in The Avengers (2012). Given the more chilly environment, this was most likely a functional decision. However, this isn’t the first time Hawkeye has had a change in uniform. In fact, he’s also had a change in identities and, at one point, abilities.

Clint Barton’s first identity change happens when he takes Hank Pym’s growth serum and assumes the mantle as the second Goliath. Next, Clint secretly becomes the Golden Archer to force Steve Rogers back into being hero. On a mission to infiltrate the Thunderbolts, Clint dons the armor of the villain Dreadknight. When Captain America dies after Civil War, Clint attempts taking up the mantle of Captain America, but abandons this after others disapprove. Clint would then become Ronin, joining the New Avengers. In The Heroic Age (2010) storyline, Clint hangs up his Ronin costume and once again becomes Hawkeye.
