Uncanny Avengers Teaser Features A Liberated Scarlet Witch

It looks like our Christmas presents from Marvel are going to include continuous teasers for Uncanny Avengers that we’ll get to try to decipher over the holidays. Yesterday it was Quicksilver pondering a newly learned truth about his life; today, Scarlet Witch apparently is handling the news a little better:

Sure feels like there’s a retcon brewing, no? The easy assumption is that the big secret Marvel is threatening to drop in Uncanny Avengers #1 is that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver aren’t Magneto’s kids after all. It wouldn’t be the first time their parentage has been called into question, since they originally thought they were the children of Miss America and the Whizzer, and they were raised by the Maximoffs, who also weren’t their parents.

An even more interesting twist would be if Wanda and Pietro aren’t even brother and sister, which means Scarlet Witch could be talking to Quicksilver here. Still, as protective as he’s been of her throughout his life, this would seem a little harsh. Then again, Pietro is a bit of a jerk at times.

It’s also worth noting that like her brother (unless he’s not!), Wanda is in a new costume in this image, one that incorporates several classic elements from her previous outfits but changes a few things up as well. Most notably, there’s no cape, something that could definitely divide fandom if it’s how she appears in the book.

As you can see, the new volume of Uncanny Avengers starts on January 28. Here’s hoping for a Brother Voodoo promo on Christmas Day!
