X-Men: Days Of Future Past “Rogue Cut” Will Be A Distinct Film

In a tweet on December 14, 2014, Fox Home Entertainment Executive Vice President James Finn made it clear that the “Rogue Cut” of X-Men: Days of Future Past will be its own film and not contain any repetitive material:

By not including the theatrical version of the film, the extended version will act as a supplement to the latest X-Men franchise installment.

Upon its release, X-Men: Days of Future Past became a summer 2014 blockbuster hit.  Garnering universal acclaim from critics, the film earned over $269 million on its worldwide opening weekend.  At the end of its run, X-Men: Days of Future Past took in a worldwide haul of over $736 million, making it the highest-grossing installment in the X-Men franchise.

X-Men: Days of Future Past was directed by Bryan Singer, written by Simon Kinberg from a story by Jane Goldman, Simon Kinberg, and Matthew Vaughn, and starred Hugh Jackman as Logan/Wolverine, James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier / Professor X, Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellen as Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Raven Darkholme / Mystique, Halle Berry as Ororo Munroe / Storm, Nicholas Hoult and Kelsey Grammer as Hank McCoy / Beast, Anna Paquin as Marie/Rogue, Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde / Shadowcat, Peter Dinklage as Bolivar Trask, Shawn Ashmore as Bobby Drake / Iceman, Omar Sy as Bishop, Evan Peters as Peter Maximoff / Quicksilver, Josh Helman as Major William Stryker, Daniel Cudmore as Peter Rasputin / Colossus, Fan Bingbing as Clarice Ferguson / Blink, Adan Canto as Sunspot, Booboo Stewart as James Proudstar / Warpath, Famke Janssen as Jean Grey, and James Marsden as Scott Summers / Cyclops.

The next installment, X-Men: Apocalypse, is set to be released on May 27, 2016.
