Batman 75 Year in Review: Batman v Superman Caves
By Skip Harvey
Batman’s 75th Anniversary draws to a close, so we here at Caped Crusades intend to fill these twilight days talking about the year that was. A lot of big Batman moments happened this year, so let’s review them as many as we can before the festivities fade from our memory.
It was building up to be an epic battle. No, not Batman v Superman themselves, but the release of the film and its showdown with Captain America 3. Coming off its wildly successful box office results Winter Soldier’s sequel was announced for 2016-the same weekend slated for Dawn of Justice.
Both studios talked a big game, claiming not to be intimidated by the other, but we all knew something would have to give. There would be no incentive in cannibalizing both films’ returns to make a stand. So, eventually, one of them blinked.
Long before it was officially announced that BvS would be moving from the spot, we brought you the news of its impending cave.
"Warner Brothers Brazil has confirmed the release of the film to now be late April, the week before the previously stated May 6th spot. That means April 28th in Brazil (movie premiere on Thursdays on South America) and April 29th here in the States."
It was a matter of weeks before WB would reveal the plans to move the American release for real. It wasn’t a good sign that Marvel had more confidence in its threequel than DC had for its flagship film. Let’s hope that’s not an omen for the future.
