Batman’s 75th Anniversary celebration draws to a close, so we here at Caped Crusades intend to fill these twilight days talking about the year that was. A lot of big Batman moments happened this year, so let’s review them as many as we can before the festivities fade from our memory.

Spanish soccer club La Liga club Valencia has used a bat for a logo since 1919, the symbol on the coat of the city itself. Recently the club decided to update its look and it irked DC Comics.

Back in November, the publisher filed a complaint against the club and it cause an international uproar. Take a look at Valencia’s proposed update and what DC thinks they had to complain about:

Hm. Since a variation of this look has been used by Spanish royalty since the 13th century, it seemed like wasn’t much for DC to stand on here.

Sadly, Valencia just decided not to deal with it and dropped the pursuit of the new bat logo. Claiming it had nothing to do with DC’s threat of litigation, they simply stayed with what they had. Here’s a look at a previous incarnation:

I actually side with Valencia on the use of the bat since it long predates Batman, but I’m glad everything settled peacefully. It’s probably better that DC saves face and avoids looking like a bully anyway. I mean, if this went through you know it was only a matter of time till they took on Bacardi.
