Via The Wrap, both T.J. Miller and Ed Skrein are in early talks for roles in the upcoming Deadpool solo film.  According to the site, 20th Century Fox, both the actors themselves, and the actors’ own representatives had no comment on this casting development.

T.J. Miller, who started out as a comedian, had his first venture into Marvel and superhero films when he voiced the character of Fred in 2014’s blockbuster hit Big Hero 6.  His other credits include Cloverfield (2008), She’s Out of My League (2010), Unstoppable (2010), Yogi Bear (2010), Our Idiot Brother (2011), Rock of Ages (2012), How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014), Silicon Valley (2014 – present) and Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014).  Due to his past roles as comic relief, it’s most likely that Miller is up for a comedic role in the Deadpool film.

Ed Skrein, said to be further along in talks, was recently seen in Season Five of HBO’s Game of Thrones playing the role of Daario Naharis.  Other credits to his name include The Sweeney (2012), The Tunnel (2013), and Northmen – A Viking Saga (2014).  Skrein is currently in post-production on The Transporter Legacy.  It’s heavily rumored that his role in the Deadpool film will most likely be the main antagonist.

The character of Wade Wilson / Deadpool will be played by Ryan Reynolds, who first portrayed the Merc with a Mouth in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) as a pre-transformed Wade Wilson.  Set within the same universe as Fox’s X-Men franchise, the Deadpool solo film will be directed by Blur Films visual effects veteran Tim Miller, written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and X-Men: Days of Future Past screenwriter Simon Kinberg.  Production on the film is set to start in March with a target release date of February 12, 2016.
