Supergirl Crossover Possibilities Gain Credence

Previous speculations that CBS’s planned Supergirl series may share a universe with The CW’s Arrow and The Flash were given a bit more fire in a recent conversation between Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim and Agent Carter writers Tara Butters (Guggenheim’s wife) and Michele Fazekas.

The Hollywood Reporter recently had Guggenheim interview Butters and Fazekas.  The meat of their conversation centered around ABC’s Agent Carter, but also briefly spiraled into a humorous “what-if” scenario involving Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen meeting Haley Atwell’s Peggy Carter.  Towards the end, Fazekas reverses the interview and tries to pull some information about the Greg Berlanti-produced Supergirl series:

"Marc, CBS is doing Supergirl. What is the possibility of a crossover?"

Guggenheim answered with as positive an answer as he could give:

"It’s possible."

The Hollywood Reporter then tries to add more fuel to Guggenheim’s answer:

"I actually heard it’s in Greg’s deal, that Supergirl can cross over with Flash and/or Arrow."

Guggenheim didn’t directly respond, but did express interest in bringing on other Justice League members into the Arrow-verse, when Butters asked about the number of Justice League members he would like to combine.

Ever since the announcement that Supergirl was being helmed by Arrow and The Flash producer Greg Berlanti, the thought of Superman’s cousin meeting Oliver Queen and Barry Allen has been on every fan’s mind.  When the search for an actress to play Kara Zor-El / Supergirl was initiated, the idea of a crossover became even more solidified.  This was due to the hiring of casting director David Rapaport — the same man responsible for finding Stephen Amell for the role of Oliver Queen, and Grant Gustin for the role of Barry Allen.

No premiere date has been set for the new Supergirl series, but casting is underway.  Rumored candidates for the role of Kara Zor-El / Supergirl have included Claire Holt and Gemma Atkinson.
