Q&A With The Cast Of Gotham!

Gotham airs Monday nights on Fox and just returned this past Monday from it’s mid-season hiatus with it’s highest rated episode in months. Recently several of the cast members of Gotham sat down with the Screen Actors Guild Foundation for a Q&A session about the show!

More from Superheroes

The Q&A had Gotham stars Ben McKenzie, (Detective Jim Gordon), Michael Cory Smith (Forensic Examiner & future Riddler Edward Nygma), Jada Pinkett Smith, (mob boss Fish Mooney), Victoria Cartagena, (Renee Montoya) and Andrew Stewart-Jones (Montoya’s Partner, Crispus Allen).

Turns out Gotham creator and showrunner Bruno Heller pretty much had Ben McKenzie in mind for the role of Jim Gordon. If you only know Ben McKenzie from The O.C. that might be surprising, but his work as a young police officer in Southland showed a really impressive range that makes him an excellent fit for a young James Gordon. Jada Pinkett Smith also tells the story of her unusual “audition”, which you may have heard before, but it’s worth hearing her personally say it again. Cory Michael Smith specifically talks about taking on the role of Edward Nygma and his approach to that character and who inspired Smith’s take on the character.

If you have about 30 minutes, it’s a really fun Q&A session to listen to and you can watch it here below. And of course be sure to catch Gotham on Fox Monday nights!:
