Spider-Man has always been a fan favorite in the Marvel vs. Capcom fighting game series. Though he hasn’t been a top tier pick for tournaments or competitive play, he was the front man (on the cover) of Marvel vs. Capcom, told us to “do our jobs” in Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and swung his way back into the fray in the newest iteration, Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

With the release of Spider-Verse issue #2, we have now learned which Earth of the multiverse the Marvel vs. Capcom world is set in… Earth-30847!

In this short (one-page short) story of the Spider-Verse by Dan Slott, with art by Anka and Sotomayor, we see Spider-Man squaring off against Morlun in a slightly familiar manner, with the telling words Spider-Man VS. Morlun in the title.

How do we know that this is the Marvel vs. Capcom universe? Easy; Spider-Man shows off some of his iconic fighting game moves. First we have the Web Ball, and Spider Sting (otherwise known as the Spider SHORYUKEN!) whose similarities can be found in the pictures to the left and right of this paragraph; two moves that all Spider-Man players have used in the past years.

Up next is Spider-Man’s classic hyper combo, MAXIMUM SPIDER!

And of course if that isn’t enough evidence for you, we have the last two panels, which shows a very familiar background (stage), with the gold lettered PERFECT denoting a perfect win, and a very confused arcade-goer. Looks like Morlun needs a nerf.
