Rumor: Tom Hardy Hated ‘Suicide Squad’
By Skip Harvey
By now you may have heard that Tom Hardy has dropped out of the role of Rick Flagg in Suicide Squad. The official explanation is a ‘scheduling conflict’ with Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s The Revenant. Reports out today, however, paint a different picture.
According to Latino Review – a credible source – Hardy walked away from the project because…it sucked.
"Now, we’ve learned why Tom Hardy has dropped out of the project. According to sources, He simply didn’t like the script he was finally given. Like we figured, the scheduling conflict is a cover story, so he left the project under amicable terms."
Though you rarely hear of things like that happening, it’s certainly a possibility. The whole project is precarious. Considering they are using c-list characters mixed with high-profile characters mired by casting controversy, their margin of error is small. The odds were stacked against Guardians of the Galaxy, so following their formula is a crap shoot.
Sadly, we may not know the truth about this until the reviews come out. It could very easily be a trainwreck, but I hope not. It’s either a good move on Hardy’s part or as dumb as Pierce Brosnan turning down Tim Burton’s Batman.
Time will tell.
