Battleworld Is Second Branding For Marvel’s New Secret Wars

Yesterday, we told you about “Last Days,” the first of three different banners under which Marvel comics will run during Secret Wars. The second followed today, and just like the patchwork planet that apparently results from the disastrous final Incursion, it’s called “Battleworld.”

These books will focus on the new status quo of the remaining universe and its planet, where various realities that reflect famous Marvel stories of the past and a few “What if?” scenarios live side by side — literally, as we’ve seen that those stories end up as “countries” of their own on Battleworld. Series sporting the Battleworld banner will help readers figure out who’s in charge and how the volatile mix of characters and realities will find a way to coexist.

“If you want the full story of what’s happening across the surface of this new planet,  BATTLEWORLD branded titles are for you,” Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso said in a press release. “Who polices Battleworld? How do the various domains interact? What happens when those domains go to war?  What strange, never-before-seen creatures inhabit this world? What familiar faces will make appearances? Fans who want to fully understand how each sector interacts with the others can’t miss out on these books!”

Sounds pretty crazy, but then again, Marvel did promise it would be taking risks with Secret Wars. We can also be pretty sure we’re going to be left with an Earth at the end of all this instead of a crazy quilt world, but until we reach that point, Battleworld is where it’s at.

One more branding to go …
