Tom Defalco wants Spider-Girl to get her own ongoing series?

Marvel were quick to capitalise on the flood of positive feedback and incredible reaction to Spider-Gwen’s debut in Edge of Spider-Verse #2 swiftly commissioning a solo series for the character. Now comic book writer Tom Defalco and legendary Spider-Man artist Ron Frenz are hoping the same thing will happen to their creation – Spider-Girl.

Mayday Parker is a very popular character within the Spider-Man comic book universe and her appearance in the Spider-Verse storyline was eagerly anticipated by her many fans. However the Spider-Verse has reduced Mayday to an orphaned teenager seeking revenge, which is an overdone superhero trope.

Despite the resulting ill-feeling Defalco and Frenz are hopeful that Spider-Girl can join Silk, Spider-Woman and Spider-Gwen and get her own solo title and have urged Spider-Girl fans to help out by posting on a Spider-Girl message board, as reported by Spider-Man Crawlspace.

SPIDER-VERSE TEAM-UP #3 goes on sale and features an all-new SPIDER-GIRL story by Ron Frenz, Sal Buscema and me.We want this book to sell out and go back to press so please spread the word. Let’s show MARVEL that our girl still has an audienceI know some of you aren’t very happy with certain recent developments, but—TRUST ME—this story may ease your fears and bring a smile to your face! ( And, perhaps, a tear to your eyes.)Thanks for being there!Tom D."

As you can see Tom is urging people to buy Spider-Verse Team-Up #3, a book which heavily features Spider-Girl, to let Marvel know that Mayday Parker still has selling power. The book was released yesterday, but will undoubtedly still be available in most comic book retailers so get out there and buy it if you want to see a Spider-Girl solo title.
