Scoot McNairy Still Coy About ‘Batman v Superman’
By Skip Harvey
Rumors ran rampant about Scoot McNairy’s character in Batman v Superman from the second he was cast. Then, fanboys heads imploded when the first set images of him hit the internet.
His green screen socks caused wild speculation about who he might be playing, including that he was The Flash – which was one of history’s most embarrassing leaps in logic.
The most likely rumor had to do with the possibility that he would play Jimmy Olsen, having lost his legs in the battle with Zod. That one I was willing to run with…in fact we were the first blog to break that story.
"From a source on set:Scoot is playing Jimmy Olsen, but with a bit of a twist. Jimmy was injured during the battle of Zod vs Superman. His legs where pinned under falling building rubble and that caused him to lose the legs. He now walks with the use of two prosthetic legs. He doesn’t blame Superman for it [his loss of legs]. He feels grateful that Superman saved the world.Recently, McNairy sat down to talk about his role, but it still remains a mystery.Man, I would love to spend hours with you about it but I don’t know if you’d see me in another movie if I did.”“It’s definitely 100% a character I’ve never played and I can’t speak too freely on it, but yeah, getting into that thing was definitely something I had to wrap my head around emotionally in order to play that character. But with that being said, I had a lot of fun doing it when I was in the process of shooting on it — my head was in a different place but I’m really excited to see how it turns out and what they do with it and see the film.”Still, place your bets on Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen.More from MoviesJames Gunn’s Superman: Legacy casts more major DC charactersNew Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom trailer pushes Arthur to his limits7 actors who could replace Ezra Miller as The Flash in the DC UniverseMasters of the Universe reboot’s new domain could be at Amazon’s Prime Video StreamerJames Gunn gives interesting update of Superman and Supergirl movies at DC StudiosWe want to hear from you!
