Amazing Spider-Man actress Emma Stone wins SAG award with rest of Birdman cast
By Daniel Wood
Emma Stone went from a big Hollywood blockbuster of a superhero movie with Amazing Spider-Man to the quiet understated and really quite brilliant superhero movie Birdman and it seems to have paid dividends for the actress as she won the SAG awards’ top honor alongside her co-stars, Edward Norton, Michael Keaton and Naomi Watts.
The ensemble cast won the award for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture’ beating out other fantastic films such as ‘Boyhood’, ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’, ‘The Imitation Game’ and ‘The Theory of Everything’. This is especially important as the Oscars are drawing ever nearer and the SAG awards are a good indication of what to expect. Could our Gwen Stacy win an Oscar?

Emma Stone is one of the nominees at the 2015 Oscars after all, as she’s up for the Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her ‘Birdman’ performance but she is up against the legendary Meryl Streep amongst others so it’s a tough category indeed. So let me, and everyone else at Whatever a Spider Can wish Emma Stone luck at the Oscars and also congratulate her on her collaborative Screen Actor’s Guild award! (I haven’t asked my colleagues if they share this sentiment, but I’m sure they do)
