It’s been a while since we heard much about the Guardians of the Galaxy animated series that is slated for Disney XD sometime in 2016. But that’s changed in a big way this week, with Disney and Marvel revealing three of the people supplying the voices for some of the main cast members.
Even better, they all got a chance to introduce themselves. First up was Trevor Devall, who has a long list of animation and anime voice credits. He’ll be voicing Rocket Raccoon.
Next was Kevin Michael Richardson, a name well-known to animation fans. His deep voice currently lends the menace to the Shredder on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but he’ll only have to learn one line of dialogue for Guardians of the Galaxy.
Last and certainly not least, we got the reveal for the Guardians’ self-appointed leader, the similarly self-appointed “Legendary” Star-Lord. That roles belongs to Will Friedle, who’s done plenty of comics-related voice work in the past, but perhaps is most familiar as Terry McGinnis from Batman Beyond.
That leaves two main cast roles still to go, of course, but Screen Crush thinks we could get Gamora and Drax announcements this week, and given the fact that the week has two days left, that seems like a smart bet.
The show is shaping up to be an interesting one, so hopefully Disney and Marvel give us some timetable on a premiere date sooner rather than later.
