11. Thor – Worthy again, Thor gets his powers back

Sent to Earth and stripped of his powers and Mjolnir, Thor is taught a harsh lesson in humility and sacrifice by his father, Odin. Of course, Thor’s initial plan was not to be a good boy and take his medicine, but to go straight for the immovable Mjolnir. Well if you’re not worthy, the ole hammer won’t be budging.

Throughout the film, Thor goes through a character arc by befriending Erik Selvig and falling in love with Jane Foster. When the town is attacked by a corrupted Destroyer from Asgard, Thor sacrifices himself to save the humans he now holds dear to his heart.

With that act, Thor is finally deemed worthy to hold Mjolnir and regain his powers. As the hammer sonic booms its way through the skies and into Thor’s hand, lightning and thunder rejuvenate him, healing his wounds and reassembling his armor scale by scale. Jane and Erik, who both originally thought Thor was just a man with a reality problem, now know that he was telling the truth all along.
