34. Iron Man 3 – Bruce dozes off while listening to Tony’s problems

What would the MCU be without a little humor?

One of the lasting highlights from The Avengers was the budding friendship between Tony Stark and Bruce Banner. Science bros to the bitter end, they bonded over thermonuclear astrophysics and SHIELD using Hydra technology — you know, once Tony stopped trying to poke Banner with sharp objects.

Iron Man 3 felt like a therapy session for Tony Stark. What he went through in The Avengers would make anyone have panic attacks and need to vent what’s on their mind. It’s also one of the few movies that has a voiceover throughout, explaining things along the way.

So it should come as no surprise that the post-credits scene happens to be Tony Stark on a couch, telling everything to Bruce Banner … who’s actively napping and dozed off somewhere around the elevator in Switzerland, five minutes into it all. The movie really was a therapy session.

“I’m sorry… I’m not that kind of doctor,” Banner apologizes. Tony Stark, being Tony Stark, doesn’t even notice and starts to blather on about his original wound from 1983. It’s a throwaway scene, giving us a few chuckles, but it also gives us another look at the Stark/Banner friendship.
