7 Big Questions About The All-New All-Different Marvel Lineup
By Nick Tylwalk
Have you ever bought a comic just for the cover art?
I don’t think I have, but I could understand if you did that in October. Here are just a few of the ridiculously talented artists contributing cover art only for the relaunch:
- Alex Ross on All-New All Different Avengers, Amazing Spider-Man and Squadron Supreme
- Marcos Martin on Vision
- Mike Del Mundo on Carnage
- Ed McGuinness on Drax
- Humberto Ramos on Nova
- David Aja on Karnak
That is a murderer’s row of artistic talent, and covers are the only place you’ll see those guys during the first month, except for Ramos, who is doing interior art for Extraordinary X-Men.
Yes, I’d like to see some of those big names doing actual pages, but there’s still plenty of star power around. Steve McNiven, Daniel Acuna, Adam Kubert and Chris Bachalo, just to name a few, and Marvel has a host of pencillers who seem to be right on the cusp of superstardom.
Those covers though … It might be time to judge a few books by what’s on the outside, or at least to add some of these #1 issues to your pull list because of it.
