For some, the inclusion of The Thing on this list might seem like a reach. In fact, if you only follow the publication history, there’s probably far more evidence to exclude his from this list then include him. However, his strength is much greater than what he’s typically shown in the comics.

When the Champion came to Earth looking for his greatest challenge, he assembled some of the strongest heroes on Earth, including the Hulk, Thor and Namor along with the Thing. Although Champion finally defeated Thing, he declared him the greatest of the champions. It almost seems in the comics as he is always holding back, and has much more strength than he displays.
