There is no adversary in all of Marvel Comics that has the status of Doctor Doom. He is easily the most powerful and influential villain, and among one of the three or four greatest villains in all of comics. Fantastic Four #5 is the issue that not only introduces Doctor Doom and sends him at the Fantastic Four for the first time, but does a great job of laying out his origin story.

With the new Fantastic Four film featuring Doctor Doom as the primary antagonist, this is a great issue to review for more of the background on Doom and how he became the man he was in the comics. Obviously the film will vary, but that doesn’t diminish just how great this story is at laying out Doom’s intentions, setting the stage for over 50 years of epic confrontations.
