Captain Marvel #1 Cosplay Variant
A New York-based photographer and producer, Stephens differs from most of the other people featured in the Cosplay Variant program: she actually works for Marvel. You may have seen her in the Marvel Method: Cosplay videos from 2014, which guided fans through the creation of a very cool Scarlet Witch costume from start to finish. You’ll also find her on the Women of Marvel podcast, among other things.
While her background is in photography and design, Stephens certainly isn’t shy about getting on the other side of the camera either. She’s certainly flexing the requisite muscle to make a great Carol Danvers.
So cosplaying as part of your job, and getting to work directly with the people who create the characters we all love? That’s not a bad gig if you can get it.
Incidentally, it’s Stephens’ photos that make the cosplayers look so good for these covers, though we’ll have to ask her if someone subbed in when it was her turn to be photographed.
