10. Ghost Rider

Rotten Tomatoes score: 26%

Domestic box office: $115.8 million

You might have thought before this movie came out that the most difficult part of translating Ghost Rider to the big screen would have been getting his flaming head to look good. Turns out that actually wasn’t that tricky thanks to modern CGI. Everything else was a bit more challenging.

Look, we give big props to Nicolas Cage for starring in this. He’s a legit comic book fan, and it stinks that he never got to star as Superman, which would have been his dream project.

Actually, maybe it wasn’t a bad thing that Nic never got to play the Man of Steel judging by the way this turned out. It’s not that he didn’t try his best, but he didn’t have much with which to work. The plot was forgettable, the dialogue was corny, and if anyone remembers who the villain was without looking it up on Wikipedia, you’ve either got a photographic memory or you’re a huge fan.

I’m convinced that both the concept and raw visual power of Ghost Rider are going to be done proper justice someday. It just wasn’t in 2007.
