Telltale Games Is Doing A Batman Game In 2016

Telltale Games always seems to have another exciting surprise up its sleeve, and as of today, the cat is out of the bag on its latest — or maybe we should say the bat is out of the cave.

Via our friends at Gamezebo comes word that Telltale is doing a Batman video game in 2016, meaning we can expect some episodic goodness and something quite different from the video game iterations we’ve seen of the Dark Knight (primarily the excellent but now completed Batman: Arkham series) over the last few years. Since Telltale is also working with Marvel on something, that makes it like the Pop Vinyl of the video game world since they seem to have licenses for every popular IP under the sun.

As for what we can expect for Batman, it’s likely to be something that explores the man behind the cowl, as noted by Telltale CEO and co-founder Kevin Bruner on the company blog:

"This iteration of Batman will give fans a first-hand opportunity to dive deeper into the complex life and mind of Bruce Wayne, the duality of his own identity, and the struggle of responsibility in saving a city overcome with corruption and villainy."

Some questions still come to mind. When will it arrive next year? What platforms can we expect it on (though Telltale games usually go for just about all of them)? Will you actually get to beat up criminals even though Telltale’s games are usually heavier on storytelling? Will some of DC’s writers get to help shape the game?

I’m sure we’ll get some answers in time. We’ll stay on top of this one, as well as any other superhero-related announcements the studio may still spring on us.
