How The Cast Of Suicide Squad Bonded
Learn how the cast of Suicide Squad became like a tight-knit family on set
Shooting a film can be brutal, and you are spending a lot of time with a set group of people, so it helps a lot if you can actually get along, maybe even become close friends so you don’t have any issues working together in the future, especially if a sequel is a possibility.
The Suicide Squad cast faced a six-week shoot together, and to help them bond, they did everything together, as Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje told The Hollywood Reporter:
"When we got to the film, we were already a squad. We partied together, we ate together, we worked out together. What you’ll see in the movie, the relationships are very organic, and that’s David’s process. He wanted a real team of people that he handpicked to get along. It brought us together as a unit."
And even for recreational activities, the Suicide Squad crew hung out together in a rec room that was built on star Will Smith’s request, Akinnuoye-Agbaje said.
"It was a real Disneyland. If you’re going to do those type of movies, he’s the guy you want to do them with. And that’s the way to do it. There are some things I can’t say. There were a lot of birthdays because there are a lot of Leos in the cast, so we had a lot of parties. But we’d watch football games, boxing fights and play music."

Akinnuoye-Agbaje said Will Smith even used his DJ and rap skills to help “rally the troops”. It certainly sounds like the cast of Suicide Squad had plenty of fun on the set that resulted in real bonds between the actors, hopefully that’ll show on the screen when the movie opens in theaters this coming August.
