Actor Ike Barinholtz discussed some interesting new details about the Suicide Squad movie!

Many of the details surrounding the upcoming Suicide Squad film are being kept pretty tight under wraps.  The same could be said for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice all the way up until last Wednesday’s trailer reveal, so it’s probably a safe bet that we won’t be getting that kind of insight into Suicide Squad either until at least three months before that movie premieres.  That doesn’t mean, however, that we shouldn’t analyze every little detail that spills out in interviews with some of the actors leading up to August 2016.

This morning, actor Ike Barinholtz sat down with The Howard Stern Show and divulged some interesting new intel on the film.  Naturally, his role is still a secret.  In the interview, he mentioned that he called the studio before going on the show, and they told him that he couldn’t discuss anything about the plot — nor even say which character he plays.  “They had people walking around from set to set with big cloaks on,” Barinholtz said about the secrecy surrounding it.

The first thing that really caught my attention during the interview was Barinholtz saying that the budget was over $250 million.  Given that the Batman v Superman budget is $200 million, this really says a lot about how much Warner Bros. values Suicide Squad, and it’s a good sign for fans.  I’ve been really impressed with the character designs that have been revealed (especially Killer Croc), so thus far all signs point to that big budget being used wisely.  Due to the fact that few plot details have been made public, fans have instead been treated to quite a few anecdotes from the various cast members.  But Barinholtz just told what might be the funniest one yet:

"[Margot Robbie] has a tattoo gun.  So they get drunk, and she’s like, “Alright, let me give you a tattoo.”  And one of the guys she tattooed, she made a big typo.  And he was like, “Oh, it’s cool.  Don’t worry about it.”"

They clearly had a ton of fun on that set.  Barinholtz told a couple more stories of Jared Leto’s method-acting Joker antics, including one involving him sending a dead pig to the set.  He said that he admired Leto’s commitment, but that he wouldn’t have it in him to adapt those methods himself.  Barinholtz also discussed how generous Will Smith (Deadshot) is, as he set up an auditorium so the cast could watch the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight.
