Lex Luthor believes that Batman isn’t enough to deal with today’s superhuman threats

Wired interview recently interviewed Lex Luthor. No, not Jesse Eisenberg, the actor playing Lex Luthor in the upcoming Batman v Superman film. A real magazine “interviewed” a fictional character. Is he going to pop up on 60 Minutes next?

Anyways, during the interview, Lex Luthor was asked about his opinion on the vigilante known as Batman:

I’d say he’s all too human. Any objective analyst will tell you that his brand of justice, vigilantism, is painfully outmoded, designed to be effective in an age when the law carried billy clubs because crime carried knives. The most dangerous guy on the street worked in the shadows because he was cowardly and superstitious. That’s all you needed to play upon in order to disrupt their operations. You want to clean up the streets? Dress up like the boogeyman, switch on a fog machine and lower your voice.

Lex Luthor goes on to say that while what Batman did may have worked a long time ago, but “it’s a new world and it’s time to get serious.” He also goes on to infer that he has had run-ins with Amanda Waller and A.R.G.U.S.

Silliness of the actual piece aside, it’s sort of interesting to see a Lex Luthor that at least portrays himself as not opposed to a vigilante like Batman, he just thinks his methods aren’t effective in this current age.
