Superman Image Homages
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice heavily pays respect to the Man of Steel in past media. His regal powerful image comes straight out of the comics. Director Zack Snyder, who has a penchant and knack for very stylish shots, duplicates those comic images by showing Superman at his finest when performing his feats of strength.

- The scene of Superman landing a section of a Russian rocket in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a direct homage to Superman diverting a Soviet nuclear warhead in The Dark Knight Returns. Also, the rocket seen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is labeled with the number “300” in reverse. This is a direct reference to Zack Snyder’s first comic book film, 300 (2006).
- In the flood rescue scene in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Superman’s sillouhette is seen hovering in front of clouds illuminated by the sun. This is a direct homage to a panel in Grant Morisson’s All-Star Superman (November 2005 – October 2008) series.
