The Score and the Composers

Sometimes the curse of being a genius is trying to top yourself.  That’s the exact dilemma master composer Hans Zimmer is experiencing right now for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.  He was so adamant in making a unique sound for the film that he partnered himself up with another musical genius — Junkie XL.

Did You Know?

  • Music composers Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL — whose real name is Tom Holkenborg — watched Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice for the first time on April 7, 2015 in order to write the music for the film.
  • Hans Zimmer personally recruited Junkie XL to compose Batman’s theme and score due to Zimmer having already composed a Batman theme for director Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy.  Zimmer wanted a new sound and new perspective to differentiate Batman in the new DC Extended Universe.
  • The first collaboration between Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is prominently featured and heard in the film’s first teaser.
