Batman v Superman Cereals Now Hitting Shelves
New cereals to promote Batman v Superman are for sale starting this week!
Make your way to your local supermarket, Bat-fans, because now DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns (and presumably a few select others) aren’t the only ones who get to enjoy “Batman Chocolate Strawberry” and “Superman Caramel Crunch” cereal! Kevin Hunt announced yesterday on General Mills’ official blog that the cereals have begun to hit stores in the United States this week. They will also be available in Canada for a limited time.
The Superman cereal pieces will be in the shape of the Superman emblem, the Kryptonian symbol of hope, and the Batman cereal pieces will be in the shape of the Bat-symbol. General Mills is also taking advantage of social media with this promotion, as you can use the hashtags #BatmanCereal, #SupermanCereal, or #SuperheroCereal (indicating neutrality) to choose their side for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. For more content as part of the promotion, you can also follow @DCSuperHeroesCereal on Tumblr. General Mills Cereal Innovation senior marketing manager Alan Cunningham had this to say about the new cereals:
"Superman and Batman continue to appeal to the generations of fans that have enjoyed them for decades, as well as new Super Hero fans experiencing them for the first time. So it doesn’t get much more exciting for us than having the opportunity to feature these iconic characters on their two new cereals. We spent extensive time and effort to develop the flavors and look of these cereals, and their packaging, so that they will match the incredible quality of the characters they feature."

DC has historically done some pretty great cereal promotions — I still have Batman and Joker figurines from The Dark Knight cereal, and I watched “The Lost Episode” of Teen Titans by purchasing Post cereal. So you can bet I’ll be wolfing down these Batman v Superman cereals every morning now! Both will also be making an official debut at Wizard World Comic Con (January 8-10) in New Orleans. Check out Hunt’s full announcement here. Let me know in the comments which “side” you’ll be hashtagging in support of (since this is a Batman site, I have a pretty good guess though), and be sure to keep it locked to Caped Crusades for continuing coverage of Batman v Superman and for all your Batman news!
