Batman v Superman Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots For Sale
Take the greatest gladiator match in history into your own hands with Batman v Superman Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots!
Mattel has released a Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice edition of their classic Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots game! If you’re unfamiliar with the game, two players each have their own robot figure connected to two joysticks. The players use the joysticks to make their figure throw punches at the other, with the winner being the player who’s figure knocks off the head of the opposing player’s figure first. I have never played the game before, but it seems like Bat-loads of fun and the perfect toy to go along with a film featuring “the greatest gladiator match in history”.
The Batman v Superman edition of the game is a little bit different than the original game. First off, as with the rest of Mattel’s updated versions of the game (which began being sold in 2000), the figures are about half the size of the ones from the original Marx Toys ones (which debuted in 1964). Secondly, unlike most editions of the game both from Marx Toys and Mattel, instead of Batman or Superman’s head flying off to signal a victory, their entire body flies of the stand. "Inspired by the upcoming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice movie, it’s a new twist on an old classic! You know Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, but now Batman and Superman are duking it out! Players try to move the two legendary superheroes into position and hammer the other until one goes “flying!” Skillfully placed hits will send the other hero right off the platform! Battle it out in the ultimate showdown with realistic sounds and jaw-jolting action. Land a superhero-worthy punch to be declared the winner and hear the victorious K.O. sound. Designed for two players, this exciting game lets each opponent control his superhero by operating the corresponding mechanism with his or her thumbs. Push the right button to deliver a right hook, or push the left to punch with your hero’s left arm. You can also shift your superhero’s position in the ring by moving the controls left and right. Kids control the intensity of the battle with their thumb speed and expert battling skills. Features one Batman and one Superman figure. Each sold separately, subject to availability. Colors and decorations may vary."

The figures themselves look really good. Batman is wearing his armored bat suit, and if I wind up purchasing this, you know who I’m calling dibs on every match. If only the Batman figure were programmed to play “Tell me, do you bleed? You will!” prior to each match commencing, and it would be perfect! These figures are for sale from Amazon now here, and they could prove to be one way to pass the time up until Batman v Superman hits theaters on March 25.
