Funko Announces Legion Of Collectors DC Collectibles Service
By Nick Tylwalk
From the “It Was Probably Only a Matter of Time” file comes today’s announcement from Funko that the company is launching a subscription box service called Legion of Collectors. Like the Collector Corps for Marvel and the Smuggler’s Bounty for Star Wars, Legion of Collectors is a bi-monthly program that will deliver DC collectibles — including exclusive versions of Funko’s popular Pop Vinyl figures — directly to fans.
The timing is right for it too, since the first box will ship in March and carry a Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice theme. With the movie opening that same month, it’s the perfect way to kick things off, especially with Funko showing off the exclusive Armored Batman Pop Vinyl that will come in that box.
Interestingly, the Legion of Collectors FAQ doesn’t actually promise a Pop Vinyl figure or any specific number of items in each shipment, only that the retail value of everything included will be at least $50 and that all items will be “exclusive products” cooked up by DC and Funko. It’s been our experience that Funko’s other services deliver on that promise, though we’d expect Pop Vinyl will indeed be a focus.

Interested fans have two choices when it comes to subscriptions. The Sidekick Membership is a recurring plan that charges buyers automatically for every shipment with no commitment, meaning one can cancel at any time. That plan costs $25 plus shipping and handling for each box.
The Hero Membership essentially charges you all at once for an entire year, or six boxes, for $150 plus S&H and taxes. If you decide to renew, you receive an additional themed collectible gift on every anniversary.
Interested? Head to legionofcollectors.com for more info and to sign up. Alas, while the Marvel and Star Wars boxes are on opposite months, the DC and Marvel boxes will now ship on the same schedule, so you might have to make some choices — or earn some extra dough to support your Funko habit!
