The CW Promotes Legends Of Tomorrow And Justice League Specials

2016 promises to be a DC extravaganza for both film and television. On the small screen, we have the continuing excitement of The Flash and Arrow paired with the debut of Legends of Tomorrow. On the silver screen, we have the highly anticipated releases of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad in March and August, respectively.
To celebrate this “Year of DC”, The CW has prepared two back-to-back half-hour specials for fans: Legends of Tomorrow: Their Time Is Now and DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League. Legends of Tomorrow: Their Time Is Now will give us a primer on the various characters, and DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League will include not only a peek at Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but the newest footage from Suicide Squad. The celebration kicks off on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 9:00PM EST.
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow – Official Synopsis: When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat – one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is the newest installment in DC’s shared television universe. The series is being developed by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Marc Guggenheim, and will star Victor Garber as Professor Martin Stein / Firestorm, Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer / The Atom, Caity Lotz as Sara Lance / White Canary, Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter, Ciara Renée as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl, Franz Drameh as Jay Jackson, Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory / Heat Wave, and Wentworth Miller as Leonard Snart / Captain Cold. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will premiere on The CW on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 8:00PM EST.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – Official Synopsis: Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has a United States release date of March 25, 2016. It will be directed by Zack Snyder, written by Chris Terrio from a story by David Goyer and Zack Snyder, and will star Henry Cavill as Clark Kent / Superman, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne / Batman, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince / Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves, Holly Hunter as Senator Finch, Ray Fisher as Victor Stone / Cyborg, and Callan Mulvey, Scoot McNairy, and Jena Malone in unspecified roles.
Suicide Squad has a United States release date of August 5, 2016, and will be part of DC’s new shared universe of films which started with Man of Steel (2013) and will also include the upcoming highly anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Suicide Squad is being written and directed by David Ayer, and stars Will Smith as Floyd Lawton / Deadshot, Jared Leto as The Joker, Margot Robbie as Harleen Quinzel / Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jai Courtney as George “Digger” Harkness / Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as June Moone / Enchantress, Viola David as Amanda Waller, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Waylon Jones / Killer Croc, Karen Fukuhara as Tatsu Yamashiro / Katana, Adam Beach as Christopher Weiss / Slipknot, and Jay Hernandez as Chato Santana / El Diablo. Scott Eastwood, Jim Parrack, Ike Barinholtz, Common, Alex Meraz, David Harbout, and Raymond Olubowale were also cast in undisclosed roles.
