Star Wars: Poe Dameron #1 Arrives In April

We need to discuss something real quick. In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rey is great. She’s a butt-kicking, Force-using revelation. Finn is fantastic as a Stormtrooper who sees the light, and BB-8 is adorable. But Poe Dameron, well, that guy is simply the man.

Marvel knows it too, which is why we’re getting Star Wars: Poe Dameron #1 just a few short months from now. Written by Charles Soule, illustrated by Phil Noto and with a variant cover by John Cassaday, the debut of this ongoing series is set to show us exactly how Poe became the best pilot in the galaxy, and how he got that reputation even before the events of The Force Awakens.

“With Star Wars: The Force Awakens exceeding expectations the world over, it could not be a better time to be a Star Wars fan,” Marvel SVP Sales & Marketing David Gabriel said in a press release. “And with Poe Dameron being one of the breakout stars of the film, we’re thrilled we get to continue the story of this fan-favorite in the comics. Expect a series with the same high benchmark of quality as our recent Star Wars titles.”

The series will also explore how Dameron was hand-picked from the ranks of the Republic fleet to join the Resistance by a certain General Leia Organa, and it could shed some light on another question we’ve had about him as well.

If you need more evidence of how awesome Poe truly is, please go back and watch the scene where the Resistance saves Han Solo, Chewbacca and Finn from the First Order on Takodana. Dameron shoots down about six or seven TIE Fighters singlehandedly and takes out some ground troops in the span of about 30 seconds, causing Finn to yell out, “That’s one hell of a pilot!” He certainly is, which is why we’ll be trying out Star Wars: Poe Dameron #1 at our LCS come April.
