Power Man And Iron Fist #1 Preview: Together Again
By Nick Tylwalk
Not too many comics make me want to bust out “Oh Yeah, It Feels So Good” by New Edition, but Power Man and Iron Fist #1 gives me that feeling. Luke Cage and Danny Rand have one of the more unique friendships in all of superhero comics, and while they’ve made great strides as characters in their own books and with the Avengers over the last decade or so, it’s time to see them back where they belong: together.
David Walker and Sanford Greene are doing the honors, spinning a new yarn about the original Heroes for Hire going back on the clock. Whether that’s literal or figurative, I can’t say.
Here’s how Marvel is describing the debut of this brand new ongoing series:
"The years may have caused this titanic twosome to drift apart, but when an old friend comes to them in need, the boys are back! Old friends, new enemies, hired goons, crime lords, weird magic, plenty of power, a flurry of fists and more bromance than you can handle await inside, True Believer!"
Yep, the word “bromance” figure into the official preview press release for this issue. I’ve even more curious about how Luke feels about being called Power Man again, having left that particular code name behind a long time ago.
I know I won’t be the one calling him that to his face if he doesn’t like it. But we wouldn’t leave you with simple text-based teases like this when we could show you four preview pages from the pencil of Greene.
Doesn’t look like it’s going to take very long for Luke and Danny to be right in the thick of a good scrap, and that’s something they’ve always been able to handle just fine. Look for Power Man and Iron Fist #1 in stores and on digital on February 17.
