Batman v Superman Empire Magazine Covers Revealed
Batman and Superman will grace the covers of the March 2016 issue of Empire Magazine!
The December 2015 issue of Empire Magazine featured colorful Suicide Squad covers, and now the cover of the British film magazine’s March 2016 issue will be graced by the titular heroes of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The issue will be available on Thursday, January 28, and it includes interviews with Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, and Zack Snyder, as well as new photos from the movie.
Yesterday, an exclusive subscriber-only cover for the issue drawn by legendary artist Jim Lee was unveiled. It is a black-and-white picture of Batman and Superman battling each other, with Batman in his armored Bat-suit. As much as I like Lee’s art, to be honest, I think the subscribers are getting the short end of the stick, because today the standard covers were revealed, and they each feature an epic shot of the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight.
The first cover features Superman lurching forward ready to attack, with skyscrapers in the background. Meanwhile, the second one features Batman (this time in his regular Bat-suit) standing upright with his cape blowing in the wind a bit, also with a skyscraper-filled background. One thing I noticed that I’m assuming was intentional on the part of the designers is that the skyscrapers on the Superman cover are collapsing. This probably represents the excessive collateral damage from Superman’s fight with General Zod in Man of Steel that Batman (and others) holds him responsible for.

This is actually the second time that Empire has ran a Batman v Superman cover, as the two heroes shared a cover on the September issue.
