Batman v Superman: Why Doomsday Was Chosen
Zack Snyder explains why Doomsday was the villain of choice for Batman v Superman
Obviously, to be a threat to the combination of Batman and Superman (and Wonder Woman) in Batman v Superman, you had to be a major player. Guys like King Shark, Gorilla Grodd or Deathstroke wouldn’t pose much of a threat to this trinity of heroes (though maybe Reverse Flash on a good day could). Still, there are a handful of villains who can definitely hold their own against DC’s finest. But why did Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder choose Doomsday, most famous for killing Superman, in his first major arc?
"To go up against heroes like Batman and Superman, we wanted to introduce one of the DC Universe’s most iconic and powerful villains. He is essentially an unstoppable force. He poses a real threat to the world within the film."
Snyder also hinted that Luthor is is investigating metahumans (like say the Flash) and that might be tied to how and why Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman appears.

Of course Doomsday, is a pretty ideal villain that can actually feasibly stand up to the combined awesomeness of Batman, Superman & Wonder Woman, so he totally makes sense for Batman v Superman. Sort of ruins potential for him to appear in a solo Superman movie (or an actual Death of Superman film). But it doesn’t seem like DC or Warner Bros. is any hurry to pump out another film starring just the Man of Steel anyways. Batman v Superman is in theaters March 25th.
