Kevin Smith believes Ben Affleck will be the best Dark Knight yet

Ben Affleck is the latest in a long line of noteable actors to put on the cape and cowl of Batman. It’s certainly a big role to live up to, but is Affleck up to the challenge? Kevin Smith certainly thinks so. In fact, he thinks Ben Affleck will be the best movie Batman we’ve seen to date.

"The hardest thing to nail about Batman is Bruce Wayne, because that’s where you’ve got no mask and you’ve got to be a human being. But that dude is Bruce Wayne, so he’s born to play that role."

Now it’s easy to think that Kevin Smith is just having high praise for a close friend, after all they worked on several movies together. Smith even had a cameo in Ben Affleck’s last attempt at playing a superhero, Daredevil, which actually was so bad that Affleck claimed he never wanted to play a superhero ever again, so obviously this took some convincing. But I digress. It’s easy to assume Kevin Smith is giving high praise because of their relationship, but they aren’t as close as they used to be, both Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Garner are not fans of Smith, which has led to the two not being close for decades now.

I do think that historically, you either get someone who is good at playing Batman, or good at playing Bruce Wayne, but not both. And I think the potential is certainly there for Affleck to be great in both roles. If he pulls if off, he’d be the first n my opinion to really do so successfully (besidesl Kevin Conroy, but that’s a little different), We’ll see if he is in fact able to pull it off when Batman v Superman opens March 25th.
