The March edition of Wizard World’s ComicConBox will feature a pretty awesome comic for longtime DC Comics fans.

Announced today by Wizard World and DC, the issue in question will be a special version of JLA #1 with an exclusive variant cover by Tyler Kirkham. We’re talking about the original JLA too, as in a reprint of the very first issue from Vol. 1 of the World’s Greatest Superheroes, originally published in November 1960 (though they made their debut appearance as the Justice League of America in Brave and the Bold #28 earlier that same year).

Not only is it a classic story that offers up the first appearance of the villain Despero, Kirkham’s cover is also a nod to another aspect of DC Comics history. As you can see here, it shows the original JLA members looking at their modern day counterparts through use of a crystal ball. That’s an homage to the very first JLA-JSA team-up, which began in JLA #21 and had the Justice League checking in on the Justice Society in similar fashion.

ComicConBox is a subscription service that offers comics, collectibles, apparel, artwork and more on a monthly basis. Because its run by Wizard World, boxes also can include tickets or discounts to the company’s shows.

Boxes go out on or around the first week of each month, so if you want the March box with this particular comic, you’ll have until the end of February to order. Plans start at $29.99 a month plus shipping, and full information is available at ComicConBox.com.
