Mark Waid and Chris Samnee have already made their mark on the Man Without Fear. Now they’re looking to do the same with Marvel’s premiere super-spy.

The Waid-Samnee team won an Eisner Award on Daredevil, and now the two men are reuniting for Black Widow #1. Natasha Romanoff has always excelled at hunting down any target. Whether working for S.H.I.E.L.D. or with the Avengers, she’s proven herself time and again.

But Natasha is about to get a brand new status quo for her new ongoing series, one that flips the script to make the hunter the hunted.

"She has spent years gathering secrets. Knowledge and intel on friends and enemies alike. But when some of those dark secrets mysteriously begin to go public, no one is safe! Now, Natasha has become the one thing she never thought she’d be – public enemy number one! Betrayed by her former accomplices, with friend and foe alike nipping at her heels, all bets are off. With a lifetime of training and ingenuity at her disposal, she’s out for answers, and she’s going to get them any way she can. As long as S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn’t get her first!"

There’s no question that Black Widow doesn’t need any help to get the job done, but she’d probably rather not fight her own friends to save the day. In case you were missing the superb pencils of Samnee, we’ve got a preview of four of his pages from Black Widow #1.

That’s some dynamic stuff, perhaps a little more visceral than what we saw from Samnee on Daredevil.

Black Widow #1 arrives in stores and on digital with a bang on March 2. Look for variant covers by Tula Lotay, Skottie Young, John Tyler Christopher and Kevin Wada, but don’t miss this one regardless of which cover you buy.
