Mockingbird #1 First Look: Bobbi Morse Flies Solo
By Nick Tylwalk
You’ve enjoyed her work smacking around bad guys with SHIELD and the Avengers. You’ve cheered her live action counterpart on Agents of SHIELD. Now get ready for Bobbi Morse to have the spotlight all to herself in Mockingbird #1.
New York Times bestselling author Chelsea Cain and Marvel newcomer Kate Niemczyk team to show us Mockingbird as you’ve never seen her before. And yes, that sounds like marketing copy that accompanies pretty much every new comic book series, but it’s likely to fit in this case because Bobbi has a very unique and specific mission in front of her.
Here’s how Marvel sums it up:
"Codename: Mockingbird. S.H.I.E.L.D.’s most versatile, resourceful and in-demand agent. But a string of missions gone wrong point to something rotten going on in S.H.I.E.L.D.’s own medical and recovery network. The more she digs, the more widespread the conspiracy becomes. How deep does it go? Can she find the culprit before it’s too late?"
Guess there’s no TAHITI in the comics — or maybe there is and that’s the issue. In any case, it’s an interesting premise that will hopefully provide a proper showcase for an often underutilized character. Thanks to Marvel, we’ve also got a first look at some of Niemczyk’s pages from Mockingbird #1.
Yep, it definitely looks like something’s not completely right at SHIELD.
