Batman V Superman: Presale Ticket Date To Be Superman’s Birthday

It seems that Superman doesn’t just like to leap tall buildings in a single bound, but also “leap” years.  A keen-eyed user spotted an advertisement for presale tickets for the highly anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and it’s February 29, 2016 — Superman’s birthday!  Twitter user @poo19752 tweeted out a pic of an advertisement seen at an eating establishment outside of a cinema in Oregon:

Warner Bros. / DC haven’t made any official announcements yet, but this photo seems pretty authentic.  It’s most likely that in the coming days, the studio will tease users about the date and time.  Will it crash servers like what Star Wars: The Force Awakens did?  Will it break records even before a single person has even stepped in line?  I guess we’ll just have to wait and see in the next week or two.  So mark your calendars and reminders for February 29, 2016 at 5:00PM PST, which translates to 8:00PM EST since the advertisement was seen in Oregon.   Just to be on the safe side, I’m getting online at 12:00AM EST on that day.

Originally, Superman’s age was left undefined until the early 1970s and early 1990s when he was usually said to be 29 years old.  In “The Death of Superman” storyline, Clark Kent’s age was written as 34 years old.  In the 1994 storyline “Zero Hour”, his age was given as 35 years old.

As for the Man of Steel’s birthdate, it has never been clearly documented, but February 29 is, currently, the widely accepted date.  In Action Comics #149 (October 1950), October was mentioned as his birth month.  From the 1960s to the 1980s, his birthday was given as February 29 in the comics.

Superman’s alter ego, Clark Kent, would celebrate his birthday on June 18, which was the birthdate of Superman voice actor Bud Collyer.  After the Crisis on Infinite Earths reboot, Clark Kent’s birthday was synced with Superman’s and also became February 29.  In Superman: Secret Origins #1 (2009), Clark’s birthday changed once again, now to December 1.
