Legends Of Tomorrow Preview/Synopsis – S01E06 – “Star City 2046”
By Steve Lam
In “Fail-Safe” — the fifth episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow — the team mounted a daring rescue mission to save Martin, Ray, and Mick from the Soviets. While the Legends went into action, Jax and Kendra (being key people that both Valentina Vostok and Vandal Savage wanted) were told to stay behind.

Rip, hellbent on preventing an apocalyptic future where the Soviets attain the Firestorm Matrix, involved Sara in a contingency plan that even Leonard found to be immoral. Luckily, Jax and Kendra disobeyed commands and formed a plan of their own. Seeing that they had a chance to succeed, Rip called off Sara’s “fail-safe” killing of Martin.
However, Vostok was still able to make a Firestorm, albeit briefly by having Martin join with her. Imploring Martin to will himself apart, Jax was able to help Martin separate from Vostok. As Vostok grew unstable and exploded, the Legends rescued their teammates and escaped via the jumpship.
While celebrating a successful mission on the Waverider, the team is suddenly attacked by a pursuing Chronos. Though they’re able to evade him, Chronos’s missile damages the Waverider and knocks it out of the timestream. The team found themselves in 2046 Star City being greeted by a very hostile archer who they initially thought was Oliver Queen. The archer soon revealed himself to be someone else.
“Star City 2046” is a highly anticipated episode that will give us an older, grizzled, armless Oliver Queen, who’s highly reminiscent of the Green Arrow incarnation seen in The Dark Knight Returns. As for the hostile not-Oliver-archer? Is he Connor Hawke? We’ll just have to wait for the episode and find out. Here’s the official synopsis for “Star City 2046”:
"THE TEAM ENCOUNTERS A VERY DIFFERENT OLIVER QUEEN – When a malfunction sends the Waverider crashing into 2046 Star City, our heroes face a startling version of their own future where they never stop Savage (guest star Casper Crump) and never return home. The city is in ruins and overrun by criminals, which thrills Rory (Dominic Purcell). Sara (Caity Lotz) is despondent over the destruction of her home and stunned when she learns what happened to her old friend, Oliver Queen (guest star Stephen Amell). Steve Shill directed the episode written by Marc Guggenheim & Ray Utarnachitt. The episode will air on February 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW."
