Storytelling is a human endeavor.  If cave drawings have proved anything, it’s that stories have been written and disseminated since the dawn of mankind.  So it shouldn’t be too surprising that people outside of the US also love to go to the temple of light and projection — the cinema.  If you don’t believe me, let the numbers speak for themselves.  And the top spot for opening weekend takes goes to Star … starting to see a pattern here?  Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) has been an unstoppable … er … force, and it will continue to dominate the final esteemed rankings for domestic and worldwide grosses.

Remember how I said that the Superman “S” sigil is the second most identifiable symbol after the Christian cross?  Well, due to that, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice could see higher than usual worldwide box office numbers for a movie of its type during opening weekend.  Every part of the world knows who Superman is, and Batman’s notoriety isn’t that much far behind.  Breaking into this list is almost a guarantee for this blockbuster film, especially since most of Asia — which has the most populous country in the world, China — will also see Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice release on the same day as the United States.
