Starting from Iron Man (2008) — which sees itself at #10 on this list — it took four more movies and four more years to get to The Avengers (2012), but it was well worth the wait.  The film opened to both critical and box office acclaim.  Its sequel also didn’t do too shabby, holding strong at #3.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice can probably easily beat these domestic numbers.  We’re talking about a team-up of three legends — one of the most powerful beings in the universe; the greatest detective in the world; and a goddess of immense wisdom and strength — so this number can be easily beat.
