People always associate blockbusters with the summer season. However, that shouldn’t always be the case. Warner Bros. was supposed to release Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on May 6, 2016 — which is also the same release date as Captain America: Civil War — but they subsequently changed it to March 25, 2016 saying that it was a “fantastic corridor” for them. Captain America: The Winter Solder (2014) was originally released on April 4, 2014, and the season didn’t seem to affect it’s ticket sales one bit. It ended up with a worldwide total of $714.4 million.
The season may slightly affect a film’s performance, but box office grabs usually adhere to the Field of Dreams (1989) mantra “If you build it, he will come.” Make a great movie and your audience will flock to it. I seriously believe that the writing talent of Chris Terrio — Academy Award-winning screenwriter of Argo (2012) — paired with the directorial expertise of Zack Snyder will produce a compelling story in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which will make March a blockbuster month that rivals the summer season.
Next: We should always make a good first impression
