Deadpool Passes $600 Million Worldwide
By Steve Lam
The Merc with a Mouth is an unstoppable force at the box office. This weekend, Deadpool killed all other new releases to come out on top … again … and amassed a weekend domestic total of almost $32 million. According to Box Office Mojo, it has, so far, grossed $285,629,009 in domestic sales and $324,166,896 foreign sales for a worldwide total of $609,805,905. At this point, the only other movie that’ll temper its run seems to be Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which will be released next month on March 25, 2016.
Made for only $58 million, Deadpool has been a surprise hit with audiences worldwide. The R-rated movie is currently the third highest grossing movie in that ratings category, and its climb doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Currently, the #1 and #2 highest grossing films are The Passion of the Christ (2004) and American Sniper (2014), respectively. It’s only a matter of time before Deadpool slays them also.
Deadpool was released in the United States on February 12, 2016.
